Effective Ways to Increase Hemoglobin (HB) Levels During Pregnancy

Maintaining Hemoglobin (HB) levels of at least 11 g/dL is paramount. As pregnancy progresses, maternal blood plasma expands, often leading to Iron-Deficiency Anemia.
Dangers of Low HB
Mothers may experience chronic fatigue and higher risk of postpartum hemorrhage. The fetus faces risks of premature delivery.
Iron-Rich Foods
- Heme-Iron Sources: Lean red meats, cockles, salmon.
- Non-Heme Iron Sources: Dark leafy greens, red dates, lentils, pomegranates.
Supplement Rules
- Pair with Vitamin C: Consume supplements with orange juice.
- Avoid Dairy and Caffeine: Separate milk and coffee consumption by at least 2 hours from iron pills.
